Mn-Zn Ferrite Material "4H series"

FDK successfully developed Mn-Zn ferrite material, which has the world's highest saturation magnetic flux density at high temperature. It is the optimum core material for coil products that are used in various transformers for cars and inverter transformers for liquid crystal displays (LCDs).

For the core materials of coil products that are used in cars, in order to fulfill a satisfactory function under severe temperature conditions due to generation of heat from the engine room or change of outside temperature, keeping of high saturation magnetic flux density at high temperature is required. Moreover, the development of core material with high saturation magnetic flux density has been advanced since the downsizing of coil products which are used for general electrical apparatus and electric device is possible, if the decline in the saturation magnetic flux density caused by self-heating is minimized.

The high saturation magnetic flux density in the new developed material is realized by optimizing the sintering method, and to shift the Curie temperature (temperature at which magnetism lose) to high temperature by changing the composition of ferrite. When this material is used in coil products, the volume of the product can be miniaturized from 15 to 20% compared with conventional product*, therefore it is the optimum core material for coil products that are used at high temperature, such as transformers in cars and inverter transformers for LCDs.

This new product with high saturation magnetic flux density Mn-Zn ferrite material will be as "4H Series". FDK will first bring the two products, "4H45 material" which has the saturation magnetic flux density of 450mT at 100℃ and the "4H47 material" with 470mT at 100℃ to the market sequentially. After establishing mass-production technology of the new product in our San-yo factory in Yamaguchi prefecture, it will then develop in Shanghai FDK which is the production subsidiary in China, and the expand sales of the product is promoted focusing on inverter transformers for cars and LCD. Furthermore, the trial production of the material with the saturation magnetic flux density of 500mT at 100℃ was succeed in the development stage, and early introduction of the product to the market is aimed.
